My name is Jakob, and I live north of Copenhagen. I love cycling, and if you follow my Instagram profile @bikefulness.dk you already know that.
Here on the site, I share even more – interviews with interesting people from the cycling world, reviews of gear and equipment, and of course, plenty of thoughts on cycling lifestyle and everything that comes with life on two wheels.
New content will be added regularly, which I hope will inspire you, so take your time to look around, and feel free to come back when there’s something new to check out.
I started mountain biking back in 2010, and it has given me countless great and fun experiences. I’ve fought through muddy trails, flown down steep hills, and ridden technical rock gardens. It’s always been an adrenaline-filled pleasure to navigate difficult terrain, and it has given me many unforgettable moments on my MTB.
But in recent years, it’s the gravel bike that has really caught my attention. It gives me the best of both worlds: the speed and agility of a road bike and the technique of mountain biking, all while allowing me to freely choose between asphalt and off-road, depending on how I’m feeling that day. This versatility gives me a whole new sense of freedom on two wheels.
Although gravel cycling has its own unique charm, road cycling is still my true love. There’s something magical about the speed and smooth feeling on the asphalt. I love everything about it – the social rides with my friends, where we have fun, push each other, and enjoy the ride together, but also the long solo rides where I can let my thoughts wander and find peace after a hectic day.
For me, cycling isn’t about being the fastest or the strongest. It’s so much more than that – it’s a pure passion and a huge joy just being out on the road, with the wind in my face and the feeling of freedom under my wheels. There needs to be room to enjoy the ride, take a break for a good cup of coffee, and have time to laugh and chat with friends. But I must admit, when we near the town sign, the competitive side of me wakes up, and I can’t resist the urge to crank up the pace. At that point, it feels like I’m sprinting in a crucial Tour de France stage – heart racing, adrenaline pumping, and nothing but victory in my mind.
I’m a huge cycling nerd. That means I’m completely absorbed by everything related to bikes and gear. It’s not just about cycling – it’s the whole universe around bikes that fascinates me. I love diving into the tiniest details about different bike models, components, and how to optimize your setup to get the most out of every ride. I spend hours reading articles, watching videos, and researching everything from the latest trends in bike technology to classic mechanical tricks.
When I’m not on my bike, I talk about it a lot – both with my cycling friends and anyone else who’s willing to listen. It’s not unusual for me to suddenly dive into a conversation about which gear group is most efficient or which type of tire works best for different terrains. If there’s any new bike gear on the market, I need to know everything about it – and maybe try it myself!
