From dream to reality

In early August, after five years of dedicated work and a journey filled with both challenges and triumphs, the three childhood friends Jacob, Phillip, and Rafi could finally see their shared dream become a reality. The three friends, all with a deep passion for cycling as well as innovation, had an idea to create an environmentally friendly cycling eyewear that not only meets the highest standards of design and aesthetics but also delivers on performance and sustainability. This realization became the seed of an ambitious project that they embarked on with great commitment and a clear vision, which they are now ready to share with the world.

The project, which has now evolved into the strong brand ATTAAC, has been anything but a quick or easy process. As Jacob from ATTAAC himself explains, "It has been a very iterative process with several setbacks, due to the introduction of new materials, new production methods, and production issues. But from the early days with our own drawings on paper to 3D renderings with our product designer, prototypes with our European suppliers, and road testing, we reached the finish line with a performance eyewear that we are extremely satisfied with, and we hope the rest of the world is too."

These words from Jacob illustrate the dedication and hard work that have marked their journey. For the three friends, ATTAAC is more than just a brand; it is the result of a long but rewarding journey from a budding idea to a finished product that is now ready to make a difference on bike paths around the world.

ATTAAC element

I've had the pleasure of testing a pair of ATTAAC's cycling glasses, the "Element" model, featuring a black frame and lenses in "Coral Green" – ideal for sunny days. The glasses are equipped with Zeiss ProVision lenses that offer anti-glare and anti-scratch properties, and most importantly, the lenses provide 100% UV protection, which is crucial for shielding your eyes from the sun's harmful rays. Additionally, the lenses have been treated with water-, dirt-, and oil-repellent coatings, ensuring that they remain clear and free of debris for longer.

Sustainability in focus

ATTAAC has placed a strong emphasis on sustainability. The frame is made from 100% plant-based materials and is produced using Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and 3D printing technology, a process that minimizes waste by recycling excess powder. The production is done in small batches, avoiding mass production and surplus inventory. This method is more energy-efficient, and everything is done locally to reduce transportation emissions.

In addition to the sustainable frame, the lenses are made from 39% agricultural waste. Their commitment to the environment doesn't stop there, they promise to plant a tree for every pair of sunglasses sold through their partnership with "One Tree Planted." This means a tree will be planted in your region, allowing you to make a positive impact close to home.

Optimal comfort and fit

When in use, the flexible fit is particularly noteworthy, as the glasses adapt perfectly to the face, making them comfortable to wear for extended periods without causing pressure or irritation. Weighing just 29 grams, the glasses are almost unnoticeable when worn, making them ideal for long rides where comfort is crucial.

Each package includes three nose pads in different sizes small, medium, and large ensuring a perfect fit regardless of nose size. The nose pads are made of soft, comfortable material and stay securely in place, even when sweating. This is a significant advantage, as it's incredibly frustrating when glasses slip during a workout. A small ventilation line above the nose pads enhances airflow, preventing the glasses from fogging up.

Cycling glasses with extra lens and easy lens replacement

The glasses are priced at 1.699 DKK (228 Euro), which I find to be a fair price, especially considering what you get. In addition to the frame and lens, the price includes an extra clear lens. This additional lens is a huge advantage, as it’s perfect for cloudy weather and low-light conditions. I’ve used them in both bright sunshine and on grayer days, and both lenses have performed flawlessly.

It's also worth highlighting how easy it is to switch between lenses. With some frames, there's often a concern that the lens might crack or break when trying to remove it. But that's not the case here. The lens slides effortlessly out of the frame, and it only takes a moment to secure the new lens in place. This makes the whole process incredibly simple and worry-free, allowing you to quickly adjust the glasses to the current lighting conditions without any hassle. Their website offers an excellent guide that shows step by step how to easily change the lenses. Additionally, the website is packed with detailed and useful information about their glasses. Whether you’re looking for technical specifications or simply want to explore their sustainable design philosophy, you’ll find everything you need presented in a clear and inspiring way.
